Curtains Measuring Guide

This section contains some useful information to assist with the measuring of curtains.

When writing in your measurements and using our price calculator, please bear in mind that these curtains are manufactured with double width. This creates a luxurious piling effect.

It does of course mean that the curtains are automatically priced for twice the fabric area that your measurments stated.


Measuring for Pencil Pleat Curtains:

Width: Add 20cm extra on either side of the window. Then add an extra 15cm to account for the overlap where the two curtain meet.
Note: If measuring for a pole fitting, the width does not include the finals - instead it includes the distance between the finials.



Drop: measure from 15cm above the recess, down to the required drop. If you want it to reach the floor, leave 1cm clearance to avoid dragging friction.
If you are measuring to a window sill, measure to 20cm below the sill - or to whichever length below the sill you prefer.




Measuring for Pinch Pleat Curtains:

Width: Add 20cm extra on either side of the window. Then add an extra 15cm to account for the overlap where the two curtain meet.

Drop: measure from 15cm above the recess, down to the required drop. If you want it to reach the floor, leave 1cm clearance to avoid dragging friction.

Measuring For Eyelet Curtins:


Suitable for poles only - 28mm diameter poles only are strongly recommended.




Width: Add 20cm extra on either side of the window. Then add an extra 15cm to account for the overlap where the two curtain meet.
Note: If measuring for a pole fitting, the width does not include the finals - instead it includes the distance between the finials.



Drop: measure from 15cm above the recess, down to the required drop. If you want it to reach the floor, leave 1cm clearance to avoid dragging friction.
If you are measuring to a window sill, measure to 20cm below the sill - or to whichever length below the sill you want.
Add an extra 4cm onto the drop to allow for material above the eyelets.
